What is perceived in the pulse
Traditionally, rhythm, tension, depth, strength and many other subtle qualities are observed. An interpretation never arises from one isolated feature. It develops through the relationship between the pulse, the conversation, the person’s history and what I perceive in the individual sitting before me.
The different language of the pulse
I do not see the pulse as an oracle, but as a subtle and deeply personal language. I often say that a person’s story can be felt in the pulse. Through decades of practice, I have learned to perceive its different qualities with increasing nuance. It is not one dramatic sign that matters, but the interplay of many fine impressions and the human being to whom that pulse belongs.
What happens during a consultation
We begin with an in-depth conversation about your health history, digestion, sleep, energy, daily rhythm and current concerns. I then feel the pulse in stillness and without rushing. From this overall picture, I develop understandable and practical recommendations concerning food, routine, regeneration, herbs and, where appropriate, micronutrients.
Bringing tradition and modern information together
I include available laboratory values, medical findings, diagnoses, medication and supplements in my assessment. I do not see these perspectives as opposing one another. When they are used thoughtfully, traditional observation and modern information can complement each other and create a clearer, more individual picture.
